DIY El Nido, Palawan
February 8-11, 2014
El Nido is one of the most tourist-friendly places I've been to. Everything can be arranged prior to going there so that all you have to do when you go there is follow your schedule. You won't waste time looking around for people or contacts to do the activities you would want to do.
Here is a sample itinerary that I made when we went there and it contains all the contact number and transportation information that you will need:
1. Northern Hope Tours arranges activities that you would want to do in El Nido. Click here to visit their website or just contact directly the cellphone numbers as listed here.
2. RORO bus have schedules going to and fro El Nido and it is better to book ahead of time so that you will have a guaranteed seat. Below are the contact numbers for both Puerto Princesa and El Nido bus stations.
3. Kuya Rommel Tricycle Driver can tour you around Puerto Princesa in case you have extra time while waiting for your flight.
Here is a scanned pamphlet that I got from the municipal hall. It contains a list of possible places to stay while in the town.
We stayed at Spider Pension House which is located almost in the middle of the coastline and the view of the Cadlao Island in the morning is so scenic. But I honestly do not recommend their rooms because it is not well-maintained.
Taraw Cliff Climbing:
We opted to do the Taraw cliff climbing in the morning when the sun was not yet up so that we can have a cooler climb. It was I think the first time that I've climbed rocks that steep. When going there, it is better to wear shoes or just any foot wear that is not slippery because one wrong slip and the rocks might cut your skin. Nevertheless, it was a fun experience.
And the view from the top was just wow!
You can see the whole town down below as well as the beautiful coastline.
The Taraw cliff jump off point is actually just a few minutes walk from the town but a guide is required. It took us 2 hours to climb to and fro the peak including the picture sessions. You can get the guide for this trip from Northern Hope Tours as well.
Nacpan and Calitang Twin Beaches:
After climbing, we bought some bread from Midtown bakery and we rode the tricycle that we hired going to Nacpan-Calitang Twin beaches. The road going there was rough and full of mud. But it was worth it because the place was really beautiful. Calm waters and a less crowded place than the town. You can tie a hammock under one of the trees and just feel the cool breeze from the sea.
We climbed the hill at the end of beach and this is the view from there.
There was a nipa hut there that sells food for lunch. I found it a bit pricy but since there are limited options, we ate there. The food tasted good nonetheless.
Maregmeg Beach
Maregmeg beach is famous for its breathtaking view of the sunset. We went there and waited for the sunset and it was just so romantic. The place is.
Those were the places that we visited during our Day 2 in El Nido. During the first day, we had an island hopping tour. There are four different kinds of island hopping tours in El Nido. Kindly check the website of Northern Hope for more details as well as quotations.
