DIY Antique Kawa Hot Bath

 November 1, 2014

Antique is one of the places in Panay that people don't often travel to. In fact, it is not on the list of popular places where people who wants to travel go to because in Panay, the main star is Boracay which is located in Aklan. We really wanted to go around Antique but due to time constraints, we were only able to try the Kawa Hot Bath.

How we got there:

Since we came from Seco Island's jump-off point in Brgy. Malabor, we rode a tricycle going to Brgy. Importante. Then the tricycle dropped us off to a group of habal-habal waiting for passengers going to the area of Kayak Inn. It took around 15minutes from the main highway going to Kayak Inn. Then when we arrived there, the driver told us that he was going to wait for us after we have finished taking a bath.

If you are coming from Caticlan, ride a bus going to Iloilo which will pass along Brgy. Importante. Tell the driver to drop you off at the highway where the habal-habal are waiting for passengers going to Kayak Inn.

We entered the vicinity and the place was so peaceful. The lady there talked to us and we said we wanted to try the kawa hot bath. We also mentioned that we reserved ahead of time so we got the kawa for a discounted price. We used the biggest kawa where five people can fit in since there was no other visitors in the place so no one will use the big kawa but us.

Here is the kawa that we used and there is the lady underneath it, lighting the fire
As you can see in the picture above, a lady was setting up the kawa which we will use for the hot bath. She also put in some leaves and flowers which made the bath aromatic.

Here we are in the kawa being cooked! haha

It was just fitting that it was Halloween the night before we went there. We had fun in this experience and the bath in itself was very relaxing and rejuvenating. After the bath, I just wanted to lie down and sleep but we had to head back to town to catch the last trip of the bus. We changed into our dry clothes in one of the comfort rooms of their kubo, paid the kawa hot bath and off we went.

There are also other things that can be done in Antique. Here is the list and rates of activities that can be done in the province.

  2. Hello,
I am wondering how to acquire that kind of kawa. My boss wanted to put that kind of hot tub in his resort.
